MijoSearch v.2 released, Ajax Search
Tweet
Ajax search is here. I'm proud to announce a new milestone for the best Joomla Site Search component, MijoSearch. This is a major release and includes the most wanted feature; Ajax search through module and component (like Google).

Ajax Search: Options Exclude results per IDs Ajax Search: Module Ajax Search: Module with Images Ajax Search: Search Page

Ajax Search

Here we are with the most wanted feature, Ajax search. As you can see from the pictures above, there are tons of options which makes it easy to adapt to your site. You can change to colors, length, properties, image etc. All the results comes and get sorted by the awesome relevance mechanism of MijoSearch.

The Ajax search is not available only through the module but also in the search page, just like Google, you start writing and the results page gets updated instantly. We're proud to be the first and only Joomla Site Search component offering such an amazing feature.

Click here to see the Ajax Search live.

Exclude results by IDs

This is also a great feature of this release, excluding search results by IDs so you can skip special categories and/or items from the search results. You can enter the IDs into each MijoSearch extension separately.

Only for Joomla 2.5 and 3.x

MijoSearch v.2 is available only to Joomla 2.5 & 3.x users as we had dropped the development for Joomla 1.5

No more free

We tried hard to offer a free version for MijoSearch but the latest freebies' reviews forced us to change the structure, it doesn't really make sense to spend our manpower for nothing so now we do offer just 1 paid version with different subscription periods.

What happens to Plus/Pro/Vip members? You will be able to get all the updates until your current subscription ends.

We've called this release as v.2 as we had to change the strucure a lot in order to achieve Ajax search/results.

What is new in MijoSearch v.2

  • # : Pagination issue with SEF components
  • # : Not showing the right component list on Advanced Search (menu)
  • # : Check All box not working in back-end (Joomla 3)
  • + : Ajax search
  • + : Exclude results by IDs
  • + : W3C validation

How to upgrade to MijoSearch v.2

Just for this time, you have to use the manual upgrade method by downloading the package first, unzip it and finally upload from Joomla Extension Manager or MijoSearch => Upgrade pages. Remember that you must upgrade the MijoSearch extensions too to their latest versions. As always, don't forget to take a back-up before upgrading.

Just to provide some constructive feedback, what I really look for in a search tool is the search tool's ability to search through other extensions. For example, I am running Sobipro (a directory extension), Kunena Forum, Jevents and Adsmanager under the Joomla 2.5 core. The search tool I use will search 3 of the 4 extensions. I hope MijoSearch is module enough for developers to add search interfaces.

Thanks,

Frank

Frank, that is the most basic feature of MijoSearch, searching through components.

Unlike the other search components, we don't expect 3rd party component developers to write search plugins for MijoSearch but write them ourselves:
http://mijosoft.com/downloads/mijosearch/extensions

Currently 130 extensions for MijoSearch are available and more are coming. As you may know, MijoSearch does also support the core Joomla search plugins which increases dramatically the number of components compatible with MijoSearch.

Hope that it helps.

Hi Denis,

This looks really great! Thank you.

One question, with the K2 plugin added is it possible to restrict results to:

- just K2, and...
- specific categories within K2, and...
- search only in titles, and...
- if there's only one result, go directly to that result's page (from the search component view)
?

Best regards,

Kelsey

Hello, would you mind to explain more on 3rd party extension support? You mention search on custom fields, i got the idea in your demo and MijoShop fields. But there is no info on other 3rdparty addons. No image, no real description.

What is "Advanced filter"? How and where do they show-up? Ajax search with Image support needs search addon? Does this apply to Cobalt CCK? If yes, do you mean the Cobalt image field?

thanks in advance.
